Since the age of 8, Kate has kept journals and sketch books from each year of her life. Her memories, life experiences, and challenges are fundamental to her writing, and her relationships inspire many of her characters creations.
Mental health is an underlying theme in each of her books. Each character, like all individuals, battle, cope and conquer ongoing challenges in unique ways. Additional themes like love, true identity and death are creatively woven into her stories to form connections between life's realities with her readers' own personal experiences.
Dreaming plays a pivotal role in Kate's creative process. Lucid dreaming helps navigate thoughts and ideas which for her, is the most important tool in creating and developing works of art. Without dreams, The Edgar Ducks, The Story of Limbus, and Bracie Divine may have never come to be!
